Crackdown on Illicit Liquor Production Ahead of Elections

Authorities in Kamrup (Metro) district have escalated efforts to curb the production of illegal liquor in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Joint operations conducted by the Excise Department of Kamrup Metropolitan District and Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya in border areas resulted in the seizure of approximately 50 liters of country liquor, 1,600 kilograms of fermented wash, and 27 liters of foreign liquor. Notably, this confiscated consignment was en route to Meghalaya.
