Cyber Criminal Gang Busted in Guwahati Raid

A joint team led by ACP Basistha from the East District and Crime Branch in Guwahati conducted a successful raid, resulting in the arrest of a cyber criminal gang on Saturday. The gang, operating from a rented room in Guwahati’s Bhetapara area, was apprehended after the raid. Four individuals, identified as Dipak Singh, Rupam Goswami, Firoz Khan from West Bengal, and Shlok Kumar from Bihar, were arrested in connection with the case.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang’s modus operandi involved luring people with promises of profits in exchange for the use of their bank accounts. Subsequently, they would use these accounts to conduct cyber financial frauds without the account holders’ knowledge. The police team seized 12 mobile phones, one laptop, and numerous bank debit cards from the gang members. Additionally, bank account numbers and details were discovered on their mobile phones.

The arrested individuals are currently under investigation as authorities work to unravel the full extent of their cyber criminal activities.
