Cyclone Remal Forces Suspension of Ferry Services and Fishing in Kamrup District

In response to Cyclone Remal, the Kamrup District Administration has suspended Guwahati-North Guwahati ferry services for May 27 and 28, 2024, to prevent any untoward incidents. All departmental and private boats or vessels have been directed to cease operations during this period. Additionally, fishing activities in the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries have been prohibited. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall at most places on Sunday, with heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of several northeastern states. Assam is expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall on May 27 and 28, with continuing heavy rainfall on May 29, 2024.
