Demand for Law Restricting Non-Assamese Land Purchases Faces Opposition in Assam

The demand by 30 organizations in Sivasagar to ban non-Assamese from purchasing land in five Upper Assam districts is unlikely to advance in the upcoming Assam Assembly session. Sarma emphasized the contributions of the non-Assamese community and urged against emotional decision-making, stressing the importance of maintaining a conducive environment for industry and youth employment.
