Dhemaji District Day Celebrated, 14 Individuals Honoured for Their Contributions

DHEMAJI, October 1, 2026: Dhemaji District Day was celebrated at the Dhemaji Public Auditorium on Thursday, with Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Lok Sabha MP Pradan Baruah and MLA Jiban Gogoi attending the programme. Fourteen individuals were honoured for their distinguished contributions to entrepreneurship, sports, social service and other fields.
Sharing details of the celebration on social media, Dr. Pegu highlighted Dhemaji’s development since it became an independent district in 1989. He pointed to improvements in infrastructure, including roads and bridges, educational institutions, a medical college and hospital, a sports stadium and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, noting their role in expanding opportunities for local residents.
The minister also called for continued efforts to build a progressive and self-reliant Dhemaji. Emphasising the district’s longstanding challenges with floods, he urged residents to work collectively towards a flood-free future and sustainable development.
The District Day celebration recognised the contributions of individuals from different fields while highlighting the district’s development journey and future aspirations.
