Dialysis Patients Concerned Over Withdrawal of Ayushman Coverage in Private Hospitals

Guwahati: The Assam government’s decision to discontinue dialysis-related treatment packages in private empanelled hospitals under AB-PMJAY and AA-MMJAY from July 1 has raised concerns among chronic kidney disease patients.
Under the new policy, dialysis services will be available only at government healthcare facilities. Patients and caregivers fear the move could increase pressure on government hospitals and create difficulties for those from rural and remote areas who require dialysis multiple times a week.
Patient groups have urged the government to ensure adequate facilities and consider a phased transition so that no patient is deprived of life-saving treatment. Existing beneficiaries admitted before June 30 will continue to receive coverage under current guidelines.
