NFR Reports Major Rail Infrastructure Growth Over 12 Years

Maligaon: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has reported significant improvements in railway infrastructure and connectivity over the past 12 years, backed by a sharp increase in budget allocation to Rs 11,486 crore for 2026-27.
According to NFR, the zone completed metre gauge to broad gauge conversion across the Northeast, electrified over 95% of its network, and laid more than 2,000 km of new railway tracks. Rail connectivity was also extended to the capitals of Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Mizoram.
The railway further enhanced passenger facilities through station redevelopment projects, introduced Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains, and implemented safety measures, including AI-based elephant detection systems and the construction of over 500 road overbridges and underpasses.
