Disability Rights Groups Unveil Manifesto Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections
Disability rights groups across India, led by the National Center for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) and National Disabled Network (NDN), have launched a ‘Manifesto For and By Citizens with Disabilities.’ The manifesto, representing the voices of over 10 million registered voters and 7% of India’s population, outlines ten priorities, including budgetary devolution, health insurance, access to roads, social security, and economic inclusion. Emphasizing the importance of equity and inclusion, the manifesto calls on political parties to incorporate disability-related concerns into their five-year action plans for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The initiative marks a significant effort to ensure the active participation of the disability community in shaping a more inclusive and equitable society.
