Drone-Based Postal Delivery to Launch in Assam Soon

Guwahati: The Department of Posts will introduce drone-based mail and parcel delivery services in Assam within the next two to three months, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia announced.

Around 150 routes have been identified across Assam and Himachal Pradesh for the service. The initiative aims to improve postal connectivity in remote and difficult-to-reach areas, reduce delivery times, and enable real-time tracking.

Officials said the drone service will be particularly beneficial for Assam’s flood-prone and geographically challenging regions, helping strengthen last-mile connectivity and access to essential postal services.
