DURSA Opposes Proposed Recruitment Rules for Assam College Faculty
The Dibrugarh University Research Scholars’ Association (DURSA) opposed the draft “Assam College Employees (Provincialization) Rules, 2024,” which mandates recruitment exams for assistant professors.
A DURSA delegation met Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, criticizing the draft for undermining qualifications like NET, SLET, and PhDs. They called the omission of PhD as a required qualification a major flaw.
DURSA urged the Governor to reconsider the draft, suggesting that PhD, academic records, research work, and experience be integral to the recruitment process. The Governor assured them of raising the issue with the State government.
