ECI Plans SVEEP Campaigns, New Measures Ahead of 2026 Assam Polls

Ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, the ECI will intensify SVEEP campaigns to tackle urban voter apathy. ECI assistant director Apurva Kumar said polling stations will increase by 3,000–3,500 as voter cap per station drops from 1,500 to 1,200. Influencers will be used to boost turnout. Voter-friendly changes include mobile phone deposit points, improved slips, and extra booths in high-rises. A new ECINET dashboard and training for stakeholders are also being implemented to streamline the electoral process.
