ED, I-T May Join CID Probe Against Shyamkanu Mahanta

The ED and I-T Department are likely to join Assam CID’s probe into alleged financial scams and benami property deals linked to event manager Shyamkanu Mahanta, also accused in singer Zubeen Garg’s death case. CID raids recovered multiple PAN cards, 28 stamp seals, and documents tied to benami assets and government projects. Mahanta is accused of 20-year-old financial irregularities, including a ₹14-crore loan scam during his NEDFi tenure. Investigations into suspected money laundering and organised financial crimes are ongoing.
