Eight Arrested in Gauhati University Marksheet Scam

Barpeta Road police have arrested eight individuals involved in a marksheet manipulation scam at Gauhati University, following directives from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The scam, discovered at Ganeshlal Chaudhary College, involved university staff increasing students’ marks in exchange for money.

Key arrests include Krishnan Krishnamurthy from Gauhati University and Shibtosh Mahato from Dhubri Law College. The suspects, facing charges of forgery and cheating, have raised concerns about academic integrity. Authorities are expected to implement stricter measures to prevent future incidents.
