Election Commission Reviews Poll Preparedness in Assam

A full bench of the Election Commission of India, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, arrived in Guwahati on Monday for a three-day visit to assess preparations for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.

The ECI will review the ongoing special revision of electoral rolls and hold meetings with political parties, state and central officials, district election officers, and police on Tuesday. The CEC will also meet senior state government officials, including the chief secretary and DGP.

The election commissioners will address the media on February 18. Elections to the 126-member Assam Assembly are expected in March–April, with the current term ending on May 20.
