Election Commission to Announce Poll Schedule for 4 States and Puducherry

The Election Commission of India will announce the election schedule for Assembly polls in four states — Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and Assam — along with the Union Territory of Puducherry on Sunday at 4 pm in New Delhi.

Once announced, the Model Code of Conduct will come into force in all poll-bound regions.

In Assam, the main contest is expected between the BJP-led government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Congress led by MP Gaurav Gogoi. The current Assembly term in Assam will end before May 23.
