Elephant Radio-Collared in Assam to Reduce Conflict
A tusker in Baksa district, Assam, was radio-collared on November 18 to track its movements and manage human-elephant conflicts. The initiative, led by the State Forest Department and Baksa Forest Division, involved veterinarians, biologists, and Aaranyak researchers.
The GPS-enabled collar will monitor the elephant’s range and provide early alerts, aiding conservation efforts. The project received support from the SBI Foundation and the University of Massachusetts.
