Excise Raids in Assam Lead to Seizure of Spurious Alcohol Bound for Meghalaya

The Excise Department carried out two successful raids in Jorabat and Jalukbari, intercepting significant quantities of illicit alcohol intended for sale in Meghalaya.

In Jorabat, a Bolero pick-up van was stopped, revealing 135 cartons of spurious liquor. The driver, caught without valid documentation, was arrested, and legal action has been initiated under Section 53(1)(a) of the Assam Excise Act.

Simultaneously, a patrolling unit raided a Maruti Swift vehicle in Jalukbari, seizing 150 litres of country liquor. Two individuals, including the driver, were apprehended and face charges under the Excise Act.
