Exploring Philosophical Methodology: Gauhati University Hosts ICPR Sponsored National Seminar

The Department of Philosophy at Gauhati University recently concluded a highly successful two-day ICPR Sponsored National Seminar on “Philosophical Methodology From Indian and Western Perspectives.” Held at the Phanidhar Datta Seminar Hall, the event was inaugurated by Prof. Jagadish Sharma, Secretary of University Classes, emphasizing the seminar’s academic significance.

Under the guidance of Dr. Akoijam Thoibisana, Head of the Department and Convenor of the Seminar, the event featured lectures by eminent scholars like Prof. Ambika Datta Sharma, Prof. S. Paneerselvam, Prof. Laxmikanta Padhi, Prof. R.M. Singh, Prof. V. Sebastian, and Prof. Xavier Mao, who delved into various aspects of philosophical inquiry.

With participation from over 64 research scholars and institutions nationwide, including IIT Bombay, University of Delhi, and University of Hyderabad, the seminar featured presentations across ten technical sessions, highlighting the best of philosophical research.

Alongside academic discussions, a Cultural Event celebrated the North East’s cultural heritage through captivating performances such as Satriya Dance, Manipuri Dance, and Bihu Dance, supervised by Dr. Jahnabi Deka.

The valedictory session, chaired by Dr. Akoijam Thoibisana, marked the distribution of certificates to participants, receiving acclaim from both resource persons and attendees. Dr. Mausumi Bhattacharjya documented the proceedings, ensuring the seminar’s legacy, while Dr. Padmadhar Choudhury, the Coordinator, expressed gratitude to all involved, signifying the successful conclusion of the event.
