Father Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Killing Sons in Hailakandi

Kuchila Tripura was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday for the brutal murder of his two young sons in Hailakandi. The Additional District and Sessions Judge, M.H. Barbhuiya, delivered the verdict just six months after the crime occurred on September 2, 2023. The boys, aged 7 and 12, were killed by their father while collecting bamboo sticks near their home. The case, marked by swift legal proceedings, relied heavily on the testimony of the accused’s 15-year-old son. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 and recommended compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the bereaved family.
