Festive Crowd Marks Fifth Day of Assam Book Fair in Guwahati

The Assam Book Fair at Khanapara Veterinary College playground in Guwahati saw heavy footfall on Sunday, with readers and visitors thronging the venue on the fifth day. Organised by the Publication Board Assam and the All Assam Book Publishers and Sellers Association under the state’s “Book Year” initiative, the fair buzzed with literary and cultural activities.

Children’s Day celebrations, featuring quizzes and recitation contests, drew strong participation, while author Bandita Phukan encouraged nurturing reading habits among children. A quiz by Sailen Baishya and cultural performances at the Zubeen Garg Memorial Auditorium added to the festive mood. Organisers reported good book sales and continued literary engagements, including the release of poet Purabi Chutia’s new collection.
