Final Electoral Rolls in Assam See Deletion of Over 2.43 Lakh Voters

The final electoral rolls for Assam, released on Tuesday, show a net deletion of over 2.43 lakh voters, reducing the electorate to 2.49 crore from 2.52 crore in the draft rolls. The revision followed the completion of claims and objections, officials said.
Kamrup Metropolitan district recorded a deletion of 25,932 voters across five Assembly constituencies, with Dispur seeing the highest reduction. Male voters accounted for a larger share of deletions. Officials said names were removed due to deaths, change of address, and duplicate entries.
