Forest Department Intensifies Hunt for Absconding Poacher

The Digboi Forest Division is actively pursuing Raising Munda, a notorious poacher from Tinsukia’s Noloni area. Munda escaped during a recent raid, though his accomplices, Chota Bhai Urang and Monglu Bhumij, were arrested earlier.

During the operation, authorities seized a handgun, wildlife articles, illegal timber, and other evidence. Munda is accused of poaching and deforestation in the Upper Dehing Reserve Forest.

Divisional Forest Officer T.C. Ranjith Ram stated that anti-poaching camps and 24/7 patrols have been intensified. Efforts also include plantation drives and awareness campaigns to protect the region’s flora and fauna.
