Forest Range Officer Caught Red-Handed in Bribery Case in Assam

In a successful operation, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in Assam caught Forest Range Officer Eqbal Ahmed red-handed while accepting a Rs. 30,000 bribe in Jorhat. Ahmed was apprehended in his office as he accepted the bribe for issuing a license, marking the second installment of a demanded Rs. 4 lakh.

The initial payment of Rs. 3 lakh had already been made by the victim. The arrest has brought relief to many locals. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the operation on the microblogging site X, emphasizing the swift action taken for justice.
