Foundation Stone to Be Laid for Kanaklata Baruah State University in Gohpur

Assam will soon get a new state university named after freedom fighter Kanaklata Barua, with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman set to lay the foundation stone in Gohpur on November 8. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the university, coming up at Bholaguri Tea Estate at a cost of ₹350 crore, will focus on technology, AI, and global academic collaboration. Built over 738 bighas, the project is expected to finish in three years and aims to become a top-tier institution from its inception.
