Four Arrested for Fake Lashkar-e-Taiba Extortion Attempt in Cachar

Cachar police arrested four men for allegedly posing as Lashkar-e-Taiba members and demanding ₹10 crore in extortion from Jandu Construction India Pvt. Ltd. The accused, including mastermind Baktar Hussain, threatened the company involved in the Bharatmala road project. Investigations revealed no terror links; instead, the group aimed to extort money by falsely using the terror outfit’s name. Police seized the phone used for the extortion call and are searching for two more suspects who remain at large.
