Four Killed in Explosion at Steel Factory in Assam’s Cachar

Cachar: Four workers were killed and one was injured in an explosion at the Ladi Steel industrial unit in Pangram, Cachar district, on Sunday. Rescue teams, police and NDRF personnel recovered the bodies, while the injured worker is reported to be out of danger.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced an ex gratia of ₹5 lakh for the families of each deceased worker. The district administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry, while police, the Labour Department and forensic experts will investigate the cause of the explosion. Factory management officials have also been detained for questioning.
