Fraudster Sent to 14-Day Custody for Forging Assam CM’s Signature

Rakesh Singh, arrested for forging Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s signature, has been remanded to 14-day police custody by a Special Court in Guwahati. Singh, who hails from Arrah in Bihar, was apprehended in Kolkata by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell for attempting to withdraw Rs. 50 lakh from the CM’s Relief Fund using forged signatures. The arrest, led by Superintendent of Police Rosie Kalita, occurred at Singh’s rented accommodation in New Alipore. Following a three-day transit remand from a Kolkata court, Singh will be produced in court again on July 12.
