Fraudsters Scam Industrialist SP Oswal of Rs 7 Crore in Fake CBI Plot

A gang of fraudsters posing as CBI officers scammed Padma Bhushan awardee SP Oswal out of Rs 7 crore. They faked an online Supreme Court hearing, arrest warrants, and “digital surveillance.” Oswal was told the Enforcement Directorate was investigating him, leading him to transfer funds to a “Secret Supervision Account.” Two gang members were arrested in Assam, while the rest are being traced. Authorities recovered Rs 5.25 crore, marking India’s largest cybercrime recovery. The case highlights the need for stronger cybersecurity measures.
