Fresh Encroachment Sparks Tension on Assam-Arunachal Border

Tensions flared in the Kakoi-Rajgarh area of Lakhimpur district as encroachers from Arunachal Pradesh erected a bamboo house on disputed land. Assam forest officials, upon visiting the site, found the structure under construction but failed to stop it. The encroachers claimed the land belonged to them and that they were rebuilding an existing house.

The area has a long history of border disputes, with past incidents including demolition drives, skirmishes, and opposition to joint surveys. Despite multiple meetings between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the boundary issue remains unresolved.
