Gauhati HC Bar Urges CM Sarma to Reconsider Resignation

The Gauhati High Court Bar Association has urged CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to reconsider his resignation from the association, submitted over a perceived conflict of interest regarding the proposed High Court shift to North Guwahati. The Bar highlighted Sarma’s institutional ties and proposed cost-effective alternatives to relocating the court, including vertical expansion and annex extension. They also suggested Rs 10 crore allocations each for junior lawyer stipends, senior advocate pensions, and health insurance.
