Gauhati HC Denies Bail to Brothers in Disproportionate Assets Case

The Gauhati High Court has rejected the bail pleas of Masum Yusuf Ahmed and Tanbir Yusuf Ahmed, who were arrested by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell on April 4. The siblings are accused in two separate cases (No. 8/2025 and 9/2025) involving possession of assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. Investigations revealed that Masum owns assets 282.08% beyond his legal income, while Tanbir holds 197.12% more than what his earnings justify. The court found the allegations serious enough to deny bail at this stage.
