Gauhati HC Seeks Clarification on Kaliabor-Numaligarh Highway Alignment

The Gauhati High Court has sought clarification from the Union government and NHAI regarding two PILs challenging the new alignment of the Kaliabor-Numaligarh highway four-laning project. Petitioners claim the project was designated a “brownfield” expansion but now involves a new alignment through agricultural land and elephant corridors, allegedly influenced by vested interests. The court has issued notices and requested responses within two weeks.
