Gauhati High Court Bar Association Opposes Relocation to North Guwahati

The Gauhati High Court Bar Association (GHCBA) has strongly opposed the State Government’s decision to relocate the Gauhati High Court to Rangmahal, North Guwahati, citing accessibility and infrastructure issues. In an extraordinary general meeting, the GHCBA criticized the unilateral land acquisition for the proposed judicial township and condemned the lack of stakeholder consultation.

The association demanded an immediate halt to the project, emphasizing its adverse impact on legal proceedings and litigants. Senior advocates and hundreds of members attended the meeting, resolving to escalate the matter to the Chief Minister and Chief Justice for reconsideration.
