Gauhati High Court Grants Bail to Forest Officer in Bribery Case

The Gauhati High Court has granted bail to Sibasish Sandilya, who was arrested in a bribery case by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.

The court observed discrepancies in the arrest procedure and noted a violation of constitutional safeguards under Article 21. Sandilya was released on a bail bond of ₹50,000 with one surety. He was arrested on May 1 after allegedly accepting a bribe, and investigators reportedly recovered ₹5.68 lakh in cash during subsequent searches.
