Gauhati University Denies Fund Misuse Allegations

Gauhati University has denied misappropriation of Rs. 1 crore granted in 2017 for its Centre for South East Asian Studies. The university called the allegations “false and conspiratorial,” defending Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta. It clarified that all funds were audited and transferred properly. The centre, established with Assam government support, promotes academic exchange with Southeast Asian institutions and continues organizing impactful international programmes.
