Gauhati University, Thailand Discuss Academic Cooperation

Guwahati: Gauhati University and a senior Thai delegation discussed expanding cooperation in higher education, research, information technology, tourism, culture, training and academic exchanges during a meeting on Tuesday. The delegation was led by Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General, Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta highlighted the historical, cultural and linguistic links between Thailand, India and Northeast India, including connections between Thai and Tai-Ahom. Mongkolnavin stressed the potential for stronger Thailand-India collaboration in education, tourism, internships and academic exchange, with scope for greater cooperation with institutions such as Gauhati University.
