Gaurav Gogoi Addresses Constituency Absence, Vows to Strengthen Congress in Assam
Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi, during a Sunday visit to Sivasagar, admitted to spending less time in his Jorhat constituency due to national responsibilities. Responding to BJP MP Pabitra Margherita’s “political tourist” jibe, Gogoi pledged to prioritize his constituents. In his first major outreach as APCC president, he engaged with senior citizens, paid tributes, prayed at Shiva Doul, and led a large Congress procession. Gogoi emphasized rebuilding the party post its weak Panchayat election performance, planning a Guwahati meeting to strategize for 2026 elections. He highlighted strong public support and the need for digital outreach. On Monday, he will meet workers in Nagaon and take charge in Guwahati.
