Gaurav Gogoi Launches Congress Outreach in Lower Assam Ahead of 2026 Polls

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday launched the party’s election outreach in Lower Assam with padayatras and public programmes in Nalbari on the occasion of Silpi Divas. After returning from New Delhi, he paid tributes to cultural icons and said the Congress was committed to building a “Bor Axom” ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Criticising the BJP-led government, Gogoi alleged misgovernance, neglect of farmers’ land rights and failure to address floods and erosion. He questioned the Rs 7,000-crore Kaziranga Corridor project and urged the Prime Minister to honour Assam’s cultural icons, including a demand for the Bharat Ratna for Zubeen Garg.
