Gaurav Gogoi Targets CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Amid Sarupathar Campaign

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee chief Gaurav Gogoi on Friday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over alleged remarks involving a woman, calling them disrespectful and beneath the dignity of the office.

Speaking after a rally in Sarupathar, Gogoi said the Chief Minister’s repeated controversial statements insult both the position and the people of Assam. He urged voters to bring political change and remove what he described as corrupt, syndicate-driven governance.

Campaigning alongside Lurinjyoti Gogoi, he expressed support for opposition candidate Jibon Chutia, while raising issues like alleged corruption, border disputes, land rights, and pending ST status demands.

The opposition leaders claimed voters are ready for change in the April 9 elections.
