GMC Fines Shops for Poor Hygiene in Guwahati

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) fined poultry, fish, and mutton shops ₹21,500 for hygiene violations during an inspection of 35 outlets. Conducted with the Animal Husbandry Department and police, the drive covered areas like Beltola, Basistha, and Khanapara.

Shopkeepers were warned to address deficiencies or face stricter penalties. GMC continues surprise inspections of food establishments to enforce hygiene and safety, with over 200 restaurants set for review.
