GMC Warns of ₹500 Fine for Damaging Water Supply Infrastructure

Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has announced a spot fine of ₹500 for damaging or interfering with the city’s municipal water supply infrastructure. The civic body has urged residents to protect public assets and avoid unauthorised connections, pipeline damage, and tampering with valves or water meters.

GMC stated that such activities can disrupt water distribution and affect thousands of households. The move aims to safeguard the municipal water supply network and ensure uninterrupted services for residents.
