Golaghat Orders Licensed Arms Deposit Ahead of Assembly Elections

Ahead of the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections, Golaghat District Commissioner Parag Kumar Kakati has directed all licensed arms holders to deposit their weapons at nearby police stations immediately. Failure to comply will invite legal action under the Arms Act.

The order excludes armed forces, police and authorised officials on duty. Deposited arms will be returned after the election process as per rules.
