Golaghat SP misuses power to arrest a forest department official

Rajen Singh, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Golaghat district of Assam, is accused of abusing his authority by illegally arresting a forest department official until midnight because he failed to obtain tickets for an elephant safari.

The forest official, identified as Tarun Gogoi, was reportedly asked by the accused SP to set up five elephant safari tickets for his family members, but he was unable to do so because all of the tickets had already been sold out.

After reprimanding him for using derogatory language during the call, SP Rajen Singh picked him up at midnight and held him in detention without authorization for over four hours at Kohora Police Outpost.
