Government officials are detained by vigilantes in Kamrup District on suspicion of bribery
In two different operations, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell detained three government officials on suspicion of bribery.
In the first operation, two officials were caught red-handed accepting a bribe at the office of the Block Development Officer at Chamaria Development Block in Kamrup District, according to sources. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption cell set up a trap there. The officials were identified as Bhaskarjyoti Dutta, the computer assistant of the same office, and Dipta Kantha Chamuah, the block development officer of the Chamaria Development Block. They were both arrested for allegedly pressuring the complainant for a Rs. 61,000 bribe.
In another operation, another official was caught red-handed accepting a bribe for the complainant’s mutation-related work. The official is identified as Lat Mandal Rajiv Saikia of the Circle Office, Bihpuria Revenue Circle, in the Lakhimpur district. He was caught red-handed while accepting Rs. 6,000 from the complainant.
