Green Clearance for Four-Lane Highway Through Kaziranga With Strict Wildlife Safeguards

The Centre has approved using 20.42 hectares of core forest and 364.98 hectares of surrounding land in Kaziranga for a four-lane NH stretch from Kaliabor to Numaligarh. Worth ₹4,829 crore, the project includes elevated corridors to protect wildlife. The NBWL has barred construction during floods, restricted night work, and prohibited toll plazas within the reserve. Wildlife-friendly features, speed sensors, and forest check posts will be mandatory.
