GST Unit Arrests Man in Alleged ₹45 Crore Tax Evasion Case

BONGAIGAON: The GST Intelligence and Enforcement Unit, Assam, arrested Abdul Kader during a raid in Jogighopa, Bongaigaon district, with assistance from the Assam Police Special Task Force (STF). The department alleged that Kader was involved in issuing fake invoices and e-way bills for coal-related businesses and had 12 GST registrations in his name.

According to the department, a preliminary assessment indicated alleged tax evasion of around ₹45 crore. Officials also alleged that Kader was involved in the coal trade and the movement of illegal goods. The GST Intelligence Unit had reportedly been tracking him, and he was allegedly absconding for several days before his arrest.
