Guwahati Journalists Clinch Best Film Award at ‘Green Frames: VATAVARAN Short Film Competition’ for Nagaland’s Agricultural Marvel

Guwahati journalists Barasha Das and Surajit Sharma secured the Best Film award in the ‘Professional Filmmakers & Film Studios’ category at the ‘Green Frames: VATAVARAN Short Film Competition and Festival 2023.’ Their documentary, titled ‘Mountain Agriculture Marvel,’ showcased the unique agricultural practice of ‘Ruza’ water harvesting system in Kikruma village, Nagaland. Presented by the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) with support from the US Consulate General, Mumbai, the award recognizes outstanding contributions to environmental preservation and climate advocacy. The film highlights the indigenous knowledge system developed to combat water scarcity, ensuring integrated farming practices for nearly a century. The journalists expressed gratitude for the recognition and dedicated the award to the Chakhesang farmers of Kikruma.
