INDIA Alliance to Unveil Lok Sabha Election Candidates on March 8, APCC Chief Faces CID Summons

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Chief, Bhupen Borah, announced that the INDIA alliance is likely to reveal the candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on March 8. Discussions are underway with alliance parties at the national level, with Congress set to disclose details on March 7. Borah mentioned challenges in negotiating with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), revealing their unwillingness to heed Congress advice.

In an unexpected turn, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Assam has summoned Bhupen Borah to appear on March 7. However, citing prior commitments, Borah expressed inability to visit the CID office. He raised concerns about the high number of cases pending disposal in Guwahati in 2023 and questioned the CID’s focus on issuing summons rather than resolving cases. Borah alleged a political bias, noting that after several Congress leaders joined BJP, such summonses ceased, asserting his readiness for arrest over submission to BJP.
