Guwahati Man Arrested in ₹34.33 Crore Investment Fraud Case

Naharlagun: Arunachal Pradesh Police have arrested Guwahati resident Rishiraj Borkotoky for allegedly masterminding a financial fraud involving more than ₹34.33 crore. The accused was arrested on June 20 following a complaint by a businessman who claimed he was persuaded to invest in a proposed ethanol project using forged documents and fake political connections.

Police alleged that the accused used manipulated digital content, including a fake WhatsApp profile and fabricated links with prominent leaders, to gain the victim’s trust. Several mobile phones and a luxury SUV were seized, and further investigation is underway.
