Guwahati Municipal Corporation Halts Deployment of Electric Garbage Collection Vehicles Over Specification Issues
The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has paused the deployment of 60 electric vehicles for garbage collection due to discrepancies in vehicle specifications provided by Isha Fab Engineerings Private Limited. The vehicles had galvanized iron sheets with a thickness of 1.5 mm instead of the required 2.00 mm. Despite spending over Rs 7 crore, the GMC is now considering fining the company. The halt has raised concerns about waste management in the city, though the GMC assures that alternative arrangements will be made.
